Interesting things near us.-The Lama Temple. We are 30m at the south of the Lama Temple. This temple is different from other temples for its uniqueness, in terms of history and contents. It was built in 1694, and was the residence of the Manchu Prince Heze. In 1723, Heze succeeded to the throne as Emperor Yongzheng. In the third year (1725) of Yongzheng's reign, the site was turned into a royal residence, and thus, the green tiles were changed to yellow, for yellow was the imperial color. It was called Yonghe Gong (the Palace of Eternal Harmony). The emperor later converted the palace into a lamasery for monks from Mongolia and Tibet, for both Emperor Yongzheng and his son, Qianlong, were all believers of Lamaism. In 1744, during Emperor Qianlong's reign, it was officially declared a Lama temple.-The Confucius Temple and Auozi jian. Only 10 minutes walking distance to reach. - The Drum Tower and Bell Tower of Beijing. Lying to the north of Beijing-South axis line in Dongcheng District, the bell and drum towers are visibly prominent constructions and represent the symbol of this old city. 20 minutes walk from our hostel.-DiTan Park (Earth Park). Fun includes canoe rides, a go-cart track, inflated castle, merry-go-round and more. And if you are lucky enough to be here for the Spring Festival you will not believe what the Temple Fair, held at that time, is like. Less than 10 minutes walk from 1Hai Inn.- Famous restaurant street (Gui Jie). Here you will find all possible traditional Chinese specialties, from all over China, amongst which Sichuans hot pot and amazing seafood of the Shandong province. This street is almost entirely devoted to restaurants. You can taste any kind of food you want! -Tianan Men Square, the Gates of Heavenly Peace, the Palace Museum and the Forbidden City can be easily reached by subway (line 1).During the Ming and Qing Dynasties the Forbiddden City was home to the Imperial family and was center of poltical affairs. The Forbidden City was so called because it was closed to the population until the early 20 century when the gates were opened and a new polical system began. The Gates of Heavenly Peace were orginally the entrance to the Forbidden City. Tianan Men Square was constucted in 1417 and stands in front of the Forbidden City. After visiting some of Beijings most significant historical sights you can finish up your day by shopping in Wangfujing Shopping Street where you will find a vast variety of shops- Inside the second ring road, near the hostel, is the beautiful Bei Hai Park boasting a spectacular lake. The Hou Hai bar street is beside the lake, so you can enjoy a refreshing drink while taking in the views. On top of these, there are many more interesting things to be discovered in Beijing. We all look forward to seeing you very soon!
