I about froze to death while sleeping, because the heater stopped working. There was no one around to fix it and no number for emergencys.

Choose this Hostel for its location and its staff.
It is literally at the entrance to Gion (5-10 minutes walk from Downtown Kyoto and the temples of South Higashiyama, easily accessable via Bus 206 from the station, and next door to a bottle shop :p).
Its staff are a fun and friendly mix of expats and locals, all speaking excellent english.

Really loved the Kitchenlounge area. It's nice to have access to free internet and a TV and get to see the local Television Stations.
Showers could be a little bit different, but otherwise, they were awesome.

Character was great- very cute and involved with its guests. Pictures and guest books everywhere.
Location was phenomenal. Right outside of a subway station, in the middle of Gion, next to a 24hr convenience store (yay late night munchies!)
Staff was very helpful, spoke good english.
Very clean. Apparently the second building was cleaner than the first but I didn't mind because the place was so great. Looooved it.
Will definitely go back someday.
