A great place to stay in Cairns, nice clean rooms with air-con & fridge, very much needed. Leslie who runs the place is great, she can't do enough for you. Highly recommended

quite quiet when i was there, easy walk in to town though and free cheese and wine nights, fab!!

Castaways is a very homely very clean and easy place to stay. staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It's not for those who want to party, but a place where you can chill out and get your beautysleep before hading the road again...

This hostel has been left to be run by english travellers who obviously dont want to work and have no interest in advising other travellers about Cairns.
The sign directly outside the hostel that says North Cairns is a real giveaway that the location is poor, though staff are under the illusion that town is a 10 minute walk away. There were busses into town but you have to tell staff 30 minutes before you need them and they are not frequent.

Nice and calm place. Friendly staff and clean rooms. 20 minutes walk from town, but they provide buses.

If you book a double room very good value for money. Would definitely stay there again. The transfers into and from town really help and also the free meal vouchers. Free internet is great and free bike hire although you have to get up very early to get one...
