Staff is great! If you are going to see jazz and want to be close to Greenwich village, this is the hostel. All the others are to far uptown. Usually got in around 5am felt very safe.

Awesome hostel! Location is safe, close to all the attractions and the subway is right outside! The staff are really friendly and welcoming. They are always there to help with good info & let you in whenever you want to come home - NO CURFEW!
The hostel is colourful, homely and cleaner than most NYC hostels Ive frequented. It feels like a home, plus the dorms have room to move! Oh, and WIRELESS BROADBAND!!
I loved this place - highly recommended!

Good location very close to the East Village and right next to a subway. Bunks are tiny so if you are over about 5'5 expect your feet to hang off the edge! Security was poor, the rooms don't lock and I went in after a shower one morning to find someone hanging around over our bags, wanting to open the window, but it made us very uncomfortable. Bathrooms and toilets very exposed, as they are in the same area as the kitchen.

Nice location and good vibe- Bathrooms were not clean- showers were mouldy with old soaps, shampoo bottles etc lying around all over.

You'll love it if you want to meet people. You'll hate it if you want relax and a quiet place to stay. And if you want to be close to the Lower East Side, it's perfect
