great place to chill and much better than BASE. With heaps of character, its one of the best hostels in Australasia although if you're 18-20, you might find the location and tranqility of the place off-putting

Perfect. Can't imagine their is a more friendly or homely place to stay in Auckland than this hostel. Highly recommended.

really good location, very clean but the landlady seemed to having problems with her staff and she was having arguements with them in front of us.......didnt give a good impression at all!!

Auckland and New Zealand are a looong way from Greece, so I don't know if I will ever again go there, but I do know that IF that happens one day, City Garden Lodge will be my first choice. I liked it THAT much.

Very nice homely vibe about the hostel. Though very drafty and cold, which is inevitable in an old building.
