If you are looking for a qiuet place, this is definitely your first choice. It's also clean, safe, and inexpensive. The staff are very polite and caring. But, if you want to visit other people and make friends, this wouldn't be the best place that you wanna go.

I really enjoyed the layout of this hostel. It was very nice, clean, cozy and the staff really went out of their way to welcome me. This area does not offer a lot of restaurants (near the hostel) but it's a quick walk to the subway.

A friendly & fabulous place! Even as a sola female traveller, I loved staying in Brooklyn. People say hello in the street and the subway ride Uptown was a treat! Highly recommended for a real New York experience. One suggestion - paintings & colour in your main building are charming - add a few more of these personal touches in your second building across the street and it would be perfect, All the best!

Not a bad hostel, bit far out of Central New York, but is only about a 10 min walk to the subway.

We had a really great time staying at Crown Brownstone. I would recommend this hostel to other travelers that are looking for a great alternative to expensive hotels in the city. We loved having the kitchen available to cook in - a good way to save some cash. One downside was having only 3 bathrooms and 2 showers. Also, I might recommend taking the Kingston Avenue subway stop instead of the KingstonThroop stop as noted on their website.

A cosy hostel where everybody knows each other after a while. Common areas are nice so it's easy to meet other travelers.
I didn't feel comfortable with the neighboorhood in the beginning but after a few days it was clear it was a wrong feeling. The minor thing was the location: it takes about half an hour to go downtown and there's nothing to do in this part of brooklyn. If I come back to NY I'll certainly consider coming here again. Oh yeah : the matresses are heavenly!
