I really love how you actually sleep on tatami, feels very Japanese :) But there's a lot of wear and tear (wallpaper coming off, worn bathroom tiles, squeaking wooden floors..). The location is extremely convenient for visiting eastern Kyoto (Kyomizu-dera temple is very close), but a bit far for Arashi-yama area. The staff was very helpful when I tried to figure out the map and where to go. I really enjoyed the more traditional Japanese style room Gojo Guest House offered.

it was very cold and no cleaning in our room and Bathing place is no good. I had a serious allergic.

I loved it here and recommend several other backpackers at the time who also loved it. When I visit Japan in the future, this place will be my first choice. Thanks for such a great time Eiji and Aki for all your help! Hope to see you again in the future :)

Very traditional guest house, with futon and tatami. I enjoyed it most for this reason. There is free wireless internet and two wired computers and a cafebar downstairs. Only downside is the heavy cigarette smoke that wafts upstairs from the cafe. The Guest House is a 15 minute walk from Gion and is in a great location for touring.

Easy to find location, very central. Staff are exceptionally helpful and they have maps available and will direct u in getting around using the local transport. Also very safe, and very clean!

This hostel is fun but dormitories are very noisy due to their proximity with Gojo Street. So if you want to stay here for a while, choose the rooms.

I really appreciated that the staff offered me an umbrella when I left the hostel. It was raining and I had to walk for 5 minutes with my luggage to the bus stop. It was very kind of him.

This was one of the best places I have stayed at. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kyoto. It's an excellent base to explore Southern Higashiyama. Good access to bus services. Amazing staff.
