No staff were at the hostel whole time we where there, so we had no toilet paper! No locks on our door to our dorm room. The breakfast was basic and very little milk for everyone that was staying there. Also no spreads for toast. Overall is was quite dirty and a weird way to run a hostel. Only positive was it was handy to the town.

The concept of operating without the presence of staff is a very interesting idea. Running a hostel based on the honesty of the backpackers is very encouraging. The place is very homely and cosy and the kitchen is very well stocked as well.

Great hostel, clean and really comfortable. Being a bit out of town is no problem - the shuttle service is excellent and the hostel has beautiful water views!

I'm surprised that the owner of the hostel is not in the hostel all the time. It's like a place running by the travellers on their owns. Location is good, very easy to spot. Security is just the key-coded door at the main entrance. I guess, the area is safe and indeed I didn't miss lose anything.

Although it was nice to have a hostel based on honesty, it was strange not to have staff around. One morning during breakfast, we ran out of jam and sugar, and there was no one around to re-stock. It was nice in a way, though, not to have staff around as the ambience was really relaxed and people were able to mingle freely late at night. The security is also very poor as anyone can just walk into your room at any given time.

It was such a nice place to stay - clean, quiet and I felt like at home! Perfect location - in the middle of the Windermere, 15 minutes walk to the lake, next to the cosy pub Queens with fantastic Brocolli bake (recommended!). No staff at all which makes you feel very relaxed. The only one thing is that if you have a problem, you need to sort it out yourself. Only for independent travellers.

There was no staff, but i like the sentence written on the wall,'your mum doesn't live here' and 'plz clean up the kitchen afterwards you use it.' if people want to experience an independent life. This hostel would be a good choice.
