Sandakan town didn't have much to offer and glad only there for one night. Hostel was basic but rooms were clean and beds ok. Toilets could be cleaner but for one night OK. Walls are filled with the names and artwork of previous guests which makes interesting reading. Cafe located nearby for reasonable food. A taxi ride away from departure point for turtle island. Burrows family UK.

It has a good location at the harbour front but except for that it's nothing special. It's an average hostel..

I actually didn't stay in the hostel, because i arrived at 2 am in the night and they didn't open up for us...so we were lost in the middle of the night - better condider Sandakan Harbour Square B&B - they are very nice and friendly!

we were due to stay here but when we arrived we were told there was no hot water and after 3 days in the jungle a hot shower was all we wanted. so did not stay here. cant say much else as i think its a bit pot luck here

Our room was in corridor with no water so toilets and showers didn't work and didn't look like they'd been cleaned in a while, the shower pressure in the other corridor was so bad that it was hard to clean your feet!!! and the other didn't have a lock! Not worth the money we paid. City View means your looking at a long term building site and most of the town seemed like a big rubbish tip.

I found the tours that were offered were slightly expensive as we went to the tourist infomation centre tnd got the same thing for cheaper. The staff were helpful but not overly helpful. Overall though, ok for what your paying.
