Weel the hostel is a hotel. We stayd between christmas and new years and the rate was US$100t and you had still saved US$20 booking online. Normaly you might be able to get a doubleroom for US$40. The hotel is only 100 meters from 2 beaches and the staff is realy relaxed an very nice. I would stay at Shelton again if I was ever going back, but just because everything else is realy expensive. Punta is not as special as it would like to be.

If you want to enjoy Punta don't stay dowtown (no character and overpriced). La Barra is a much better bet and beaches are nicer. If you still wanna stay in town then location is very good for this hotel.

The room was nice and clean. Our room had a balcony and a great view of the ocean. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Hotel is a little bit dated, straight out of early 1980's. Could do with a facelift and clean up, like many of the women in Punta del Este!! Excellent breakfast. All round a good choice though. Note this is a hotel and not a hostel.
