I bet STV was the best pick possible. Great place to stay! I will go back in the future.
Booked dorm, but the friendly staff gave me an own room with private bathroom at no extra charge! NO bugs. Great value, though not luxurious!
They helpfully assisted me in finding things to do. I was provided advice on when to be back in, since STV is in a rather dark area at the edge of the Garden district. A beautiful former orphanage, STV is surrounded by picturesque mansions. 30min walk from FQ.

The hostel was ok in itself but we came across a few beatle type bugs in our room.

the room was dirty, but in mid-September I had a dorm room to myself because of low occupancy. The staff were very friendly as per Southern style, and they were ok with my after midnight arrival. The bistro was excellent - $3 for a full Southern breakfast! Overall the place had great charm and was conveniently located about 30mins wal from the french quarter.

It is infested with roaches. Management was unreasonable. we were there less than 7 hours refused to refund any money. I want to warn anyone. For the 2 years after hurricane katrina it was a crack and prostitute house. They hardly cleaned their act up since and I filed a claim with the better business bureau against them. No one should have to go through what my friend and I went through at that place. I hope that this will be posted somewhere on you site so this wont happen to anyone else.
