This hostel was great. My partner stayed for 3 days and had our own double room which was very lovely and AIR CONDITIONED! It's very easy to get to the city and northbridge shops and places to eat by walking. I'd say it had more of a transient share-house feel than a hostel. Communal systems seemed to be working well enough.

well i dont know to much about this backpaker to be honest. i booked 2 days and they didnt respect my booking. when i arrived there they were full and it wasnt easy for them to give me my deposit back....

Don't stay at this hostel. The owners were extremely rude, as were the long term live ins who together made us feel very unwelcome. The location is a bit out of town compared to other places. Basically a house converted into a hostel so it's a bit unique. However, there are better places in Perth to stay.

Would not recommend the Shiralee to other travellers. Communal areas were very unclean, seemed to be quite a few live-ins who dominated the place, and the owner(s) were not particularly friendly. On the positive side it is roomy with a garden area and is in a good location. However, for the price, there will be better and more fun places in Perth to stay. Recommend search elsewhere.

An ok hostel, not the best but not the worst. To many live in's who seem to have their own click going. We booked a double room and our double bed only half a base, so the lower half of the bed feel through the frame when you sat on it.
