Great hostel, nice and cosy rooms and very helpful staff. however, In winter it is very cold inside as the windows and doors are kept open most of the time.

It was really great, especially for the low price compared to most other hostels. I had a single room, and was very happy with it. It was very quiet when I was there, so if you want to party, maybe not the best place. But if you actually want to get some sleep, great. Central station is really close, so you can easily get to the main attractions from there. Most importantly, the staff was so nice and helpful. Free Wifi worked perfectly. Would definitely recommend it!

I don`t think this hostel is ment for backpackers, The house is in a very normal people area, where traditional japanese rules are applied, which are usually not known to most of the foreigners that come there. This usually lead to conflicts between the hostel and the neighbours of Tomato Hostel. But I followed all Japanese traditions that I know about and I had no troubles at all, and had a nice stay there.

Our room smelled like wet tatami mats, and had spiderwebs on the walls. The bathrooms were terrible with a bad smell coming from them - also the men's bathroom and showers were on the first floor, while the women's was on the second. The halls creak very badly and are loud when anyone walks by. We would not recommend this hostel as there are much better ones in Kyoto!

The free wireless is a bonus and the location is great. However, tiny communal areas without sunlight and just one shower on the ground floor for men and 2 or 3 unattractive toilets. The price is low and you get what you pay for...

Good place to stay. Comfortable rooms, helpful staff. Nice showers and cheap laundry. The bathrooms reminded me of small public school toilets, but we didn't think they were as bad as the other reviews said. Would stay here agan.
