the place is VERY basic - you get a bed and a roof, and that's pretty much it! it is located right next to the train station, so if you like the sound of trains - lots and LOTS of trains! - this is your place! if you're planning for a nice weekend with your girlfriend boyfriend: it isn't!
on the upside, the breakfast is rather good, and you get a free mobility pass for trams and busses for your entire stay.
oh, one more thing: no check-in between 12am and 3pm!

Really all items are very poor.It is near the railway, like sleeping on railway.Receptionist are not friendly, like a third world country officer.
The girl at the restaurant for preparing breakfast does not know hygeine.
The hostel equipments are very old.
I want to warn everbody to stay at Youth Hostel Basel City. You can be sure, I am objektive when I am writing this complaint.

The breakfast was great, and thank you very much for the wonderful coffee from the (free) machine each morning. The rooms are quite sparse and barren though, but everything was quite clean.

We stayed in a big double room with a extreme poor decoration. It was smelly and very noisy due to being close to the train station. Good buffet breakfast

Rooms are noisy at night because of the trains that arrive all night through, but the decent breakfast and good coffee (included in the price) made up for it!

Excellent location. easy to find out.Staff was help ful, friendly..staires are the only probs, but okey..pls remind to take unversal power adaptor with u....we enjoyed very well
