This former monastery is a beautiful place. Really atmospheric. We had a lovely little mini-apartment, which even had a little kitchen in it. Only criticism is that the tap in it didn't work, which might have been the cold. The one in the bathroom did though, so it wasn't any problem.

A lovely monestary, private room, spartan but functional. Really good atmosphere. But for the price, breakfast should have been included.

Everything was great, except the room and everything in it stunk of cigarette smoke and was unpleasant, not easy to sleep at night.

Very NOISY.. lack of foresight by hotel to sound proof rooms
with a couple of layers of Gib Fibreboard to quieten room and ceiling. Wooden floors make sound also echo. Also cold room. There was no coffee kettle faculties as advertised in my room, and the communal coffee-tea area
on the floor had no kettle for a week, even though mentioned to staff. Would not stay again, unless major
improvements.

By far, Guesthouse PoortAckere was the most unique place I stayed during my latest trip. It is centrally located making for easy access to the sites. The staff is both friendly and helpful. The intrigue of this place alone is worth a stay should you stop in Ghent.
