Hello! Pacific Tradewinds welcomes fun loving, social, international travelers who truly enjoy hosteling. Choosing to stay in a hostel is more than just saving some money; hosteling provides the opportunity to meet fellow travelers, possible travel partners, and to make instant friends. We make it easy for our guests to do just that, -grab a fellow backpacker and head to North Beach or Golden Gate Park together, or go have a drink and dance in the Castro District with our volunteer staff.**Please note that check in times are between 8am -midnight*****We are a travelers hostel and therefore only serve people who are actively on vacation/holiday. Unfortunately, this means San Francisco bay area residents, or anyone in the 94XXX zipcode, would not be eligible.***Check out 10:30 amAs fellow international travelers, Pacific Tradewinds is more than a hostel to us; it is our home. We strive to learn about the interesting people who choose to visit the great city of San Francisco. You can expect us to ask you the usual heap of questions: 'Where did you come from? What do you do? How long you staying? Where you off to next?'. We hope you don't mind indulging us with a bit of social chatter before we show you to your bunk. However, if you just arrived from some far off location and can hardly keep an eye open- we will work as quickly as possible to tuck you into your bed. Our house is specifically designed to so that interaction with other guests is impossible to avoid; the shared dormitories encourage community and being social with your new friends. If you crave privacy or tend to be anti-social, you may find our 'openness' a bit odd or not to your liking. We would love to suit everyone's tastes if we could, but we do understand if this concept is not the right choice for you. Pacific Tradewinds is in a great location, nestled comfortably between the Financial District and Chinatown, a stone's throw from the iconic Transamerican Tower, and stumbling-home distance from North Beach's vibrant bars. We are on a major bus line and roughly 5 blocks from the Muni/Bart station. Although we are a small hostel, we do a good job providing the amenities and services of the larger hostels, except with a personal touch. You would never confuse our wee hostel with a 'flashpackers' and we're not even close to resembling an institutional (aka impersonal) hostel. Yes, our kitchen will only accommodate a few people at one time, but rest assured that it's modern, fully stocked and some amazingly yummy food comes out of there. We routinely invite our guests to join us for community dinners. Our bathrooms are clean and modern, even if the plumbing on the inside is over 100 years old! Our beds are the sturdiest bunks in the world- custom made for backpackers with powder coated steel, so there are no hidey-holes for bugs. These beds will not squeak or shake and there is backpack storage lockers underneath. And, of course, we have free wi-fi and high speed internet available. San Francisco is chock full of things to do, of course. And, since we do a bit of traveling ourselves, we know budget is key. We definitely will not push a bunch of expensive tours and tickets on you. We are happy to point you in the direction you seek- armed with a map and aspirin for your hangover! We are in the business of getting to know people. If you think this unique hostel is right up your alley, we invite you to come spend some time with us. Happy travels, and welcome.NOTE: You are not viewing the Pacific Tradewinds website, but rather that of a booking agency. If you are having any problems booking please call us directly or go to our website. Walk ins are also welcome!
